“Today, he made two brilliant saves for the team and probably saved them, but it’s disappointing that we didn’t score because we put enough pressure on them. De Gea has banned Michail Antonio, Kurt Zouma, and Declan Rice following the late West Ham attack.

They were the kind of exploits United have grown accustomed to in their 11 years at the club, with their shot-stopping skills never being questioned. But there have been questions about their ability to play from the outside.

It has increasingly become a requirement for modern goalkeepers and has contributed to him losing his place in the Spanish squad, with Qatar reportedly sidelined.

It also raised questions about his long-term future at United, as Ten Hag is known for his determination to have a goalkeeper who can help develop the game from the defense. But the United manager is convinced De Gea can live up to all his claims.
