David Beckham was heavily criticized for his promotional video in Qatar ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The former England football team captain has been accused of “ending hope for the Worldwide and Qatar LGBTQ community” with his World Cup promotion.

Dr Nas Mohamed, who recently became the first openly gay man in Qatar, has criticized Beckham for his questionable approach to the Qatar LGBTQ Community. Dr Mohamed wrote in his open letter to Beckham that the former Manchester United midfielder is guilty of ‘ making money and looking the other way’.

He also urged Beckham to speak out against injustice happening towards Qatar LGBTQ Community. The letter was reportedly written last month. It is also the first public criticism of Beckham by a gay Qatari. It also sends a message that there really is no chance for us to escape our current persecution and live free,” wrote Dr. Mohamed in the letter obtained by The Independent.

Dr. Mohamed added that Beckham’s PR work for Qatar does not accurately portray the nation and overlooks the horrific experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. The report claims that Beckham was paid a good sum to promote Qatar and the FIFA World Cup. . Beckham recently appeared in a motorcycle advert in Doha. Beckham’s former Manchester United team-mate Eric Cantona also criticized the England footballer for acting as Qatar’s ambassador.

 Beckham isn’t the only footballer doing promotional work for World Cup hosts. Barcelona coach Xavi and former Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o were also previously spotted promoting Qatar.

Cantona even called Beckham’s deal with Qatar a “big mistake”. In an interview with Athletic, the former French footballer categorically stated that he would never be willing to promote Qatar before the World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup kicks off on November 20 at Al Bayt Stadium. The host Qatar will be present. against Ecuador in the opening game. The summit match is scheduled to be played on December 18th at the Lusail Stadium in Doha.

This communities generally celebrate pride, diversity, individuality, and sexuality. LGBT activists and sociologists see LGBT community building as a counterbalance to heterosexism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, sexualism, and conformist pressures in society at large.

The term Pride expresses the collective identity and strength of the LGBT community; Gay pride parades are both an excellent example of usage and a demonstration of the general meaning of the term. The political affiliation of the LGBT community is diverse. Not all lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people are considered part of the LGBT community.

Groups that can be considered part of the LGBT community include gay towns, LGBT rights organizations, corporate employee groups, LGBT student groups in schools and colleges, and LGBT-affirming religious groups. LGBT communities can organize or support civil rights movements promoting LGBT rights in different places around the world.

At the same time, high profile celebrities in society at large can provide important support to these organizations in specific locations.

For example, LGBT activist and advocate Madonna stated, “I’ve been asked to perform at many Pride events around the world, but I would never turn down New York City.”
