The FIFA World Cup 2022, Qatar draws to the last 16 round after 32 teams started the tournament slotted in eight groups from A to H.

ROUND OF 16 KNOCKOUTS

This world cup has been exhilarating where several Goliaths were eliminated and Davids roared with tenacity. Now who has made it to the knock-out stages?

The first team to announce their arrival to the last 16 were reigning champions France. Les Bleus beat Australia 4-1 and Denmark 2-1 to place themselves in the knockouts comfortably

FRANCE

In Group A, the Dutch remained unbeaten having won 2 and drawn 1 and leading the Group A, they reserved their place in the knock-outs.

NETHERLANDS

In the same group, in what was a virtual playoff, Senegal emerged as winner against Ecuador to become the second team from Group A to march ahead into the last 16.

SENEGAL

England saw themselves comfortably fixt their knock out birth after 2 wins and a draw and being the group A leaders.

ENGLAND

Christian Pulisic came to the rescue for USMNT to clinch the last 16 slot by defeating Iran in a crucial knockout goal becoming Group B runners up.

UNITED STATES

Brazil won their 2 opening matches – 2-0 against Serbia and 1-0 against Switzerland, comfortably. This put them at the top in Group G and fixing their last 16 place.

BRAZIL

Christiano Ronaldo’s Portugal also marched ahead comfortably in to the knock outs from their Group H. They beat Ghana 3-2 and Uruguay 3-2 before losing to South Korea 2-1.

PORTUGAL

After a huge upset against Saudi Arabia, Lionel Messi’s Argentina recovered in Group C to become group leaders and affirm their continued journey in the tournament.

ARGENTINA

From Group C, Poland emerged as the 2nd team to make it to last 16 owing to a superior goal difference to Mexico.

POLAND

Group E was the most exciting in this world cup as Japan astonished everybody beating the European giants – Germany and Spain and topping the group.

JAPAN

After a mammoth 7-0 opening victory over Costa Rica, Spain cruised comfortably before losing to Japan led to a draw with Germany and only put them ahead due to a better goal difference.

SPAIN

Croatia has not ruffled too many feathers but their clinical show has made them reach the 2nd spot in their group F. Lets see what the 2018 world cup runners have up their sleeves. 

CROATIA

Inspite of having the strong Croatia and “Golden generation” of Belgium in group F, it was Morocco who shocked everybody beating Belgium and leading their group.

MOROCCO

The second team from Asia after Japan to qualify for last 16 was South Korea due to an extra time goal from Hee-Chan Hwang and remarkably eliminating Uruguay from the competition.

SOUTH KOREA

Both Switzerland and Australia after a smooth run secured the second place in their respective groups G and D.
